Release Program

The Release program takes a generational approach to sturgeon awareness. Here we focus on the youth and provide them with a hands-on method of learning about lake sturgeon. The youth of the surrounding communities of Cross Lake, Norway House and Wabwden had the ability to come out to the release sites and get pictures taken with the sturgeon while naming them and learning about sturgeon in the traditional and scientific form. They took their photos and information home with them, which helps towards the increase in awareness and stewardship.
